Post Work

1) Before the weeknd calss I didnt know that amish people do not use electricity and I wondered how they do that and thought it really must be hard but I read in one of the sources that they do have most things we have that use electricity like the washing machine and taking the house tour completed the picture in my head when I saw everything in person

2) I expected a lot more people than there were at the weekend class and I also thought that we would be sitting down all the time and listening to on going teachings which is how things were at the last weekend course i went to, I was surprised that we didnt have a lot of pre work to do which i expected to be more than we got, But on the brighter side I loved that we could form friendships with each other and the weekend class organisers so in the end being a smaller group truned out really good, I enjoyed and appreciated all the foods and drinks that were provided, the lancaster food we had wasn't the best but im not a complainer so i still apprecited it. I enjoyed most if the questions that were asked and providing my point of view bit also hearing other people's opinions.

3) I've always had respect for amish people and their culture but i wont lie I have watched a lot of amish movies and have fell into the misrepresentation of the amish people in these movies. Now I know that most amish people young and old choose to be amish and are happy in doing so and everyone has the freedom to leave the amish community if they aren't happy with the lifestyle anymore.

4) What I took from this experience is that we should gain a little more knowledge before having an opinion about general things because what we hear or read about isbt always true and sometimes directly asking people questions about themselves give you more accurate information than the internet and if you can't directly ask question thats also fine but dont then assume things you are not certain about.

5) I cant think of anything I would change about the weekend except make it longer if I could hahah it was really a lot of fun spending time with the group of girls in the space thaf we did and the weekend went by so fast it was over before I was ready

6) The advice that I would give to future participants would be to engage in the class, ask question listen attentively and participate in the converstion. You will have the greatest time if you commit to learning something instead of just doing it to get it done and get your credits

7) I would say that the Amish people are a community of people who just like us are not perfect and struggle with a lot of the same issues as we do like addictions, mental illnesses and tax but again just like us they are happy with who they are and how they choose to live their life and deserve the same respect that regular people demend from each other.
